why do we have to do nhd every year?

"NHD is okay I guess, it makes me feel smart doing it each year, makes me feel special. I love doing NHD and working with my friends." stated by Shaquetta Brown. NHD most people say for short but it's really National History Day. It's an project that middle and high school students compete against each other. First, start at school wide competition than citywide, states then nationals. And if you win your given a scholarship to what ever college you want to go to. Most schools have the option to do it as an extra circular activity, credit recovery,etc.... On the other hand my school Constitution High has to do it every year. Now the question I have "Do you think we should havve to do it every year?"

Majority of the students i've interviewed thought we shouldn't have to do NHD each year. After they heard the question they answered with a annoyed voice. Thinking it's a waste of time. Some people put their heart and soul in it like staying after school and getting out of class. At the end of the day you won't even get that far. NHD is a big part of our grade. It's manitory! Even though you have other class to attend and do work for you have to put most of your attention to your project. A few people out of the bunch thought we should do it every year. Students said they don't have a problem with with NHD because it really helps them learn more about history. Plus this is a history based on high school.

In conclusion, to resolve this problem freshmen and seniors should have to do it. But for the tenth and eleventh graders they should have an option if they want to do it or not for an extra circurlum activityor whatever. http://www.kshs.org/teachers/historyday/graphics/nhd_logo.jpg
